Hillary is just beginning her residency in otolaryngology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She completed her undergraduate education in her hometown of St. Louis, MO at Washington University in St. Louis, then moved to Pittsburgh to receive her MD from the University in Pittsburgh. She enjoys nonfiction writing with particular interest in race and racial disparities in higher education and medicine.
She was talking to another attending when I recognized her voice from around the corner. As a third-year medical student, I wanted to look busy, so I moved briskly, avoiding eye contact, trying to make it seem as if I were headed somewhere important.
